Neurochrome 686 – The Build

Overview

Welcome to my article on the building of an Audio Power Amplifier, constructed mainly from circuit boards from Neurochrome Audio. This is more of a photo blog account of my build and not a tutorial as such.

I first built a project based on the LM3886 from an article from circuitbasics.com, which included references to Tom Christiansen and that led me to the Neurochrome boards.

Decided on a dual mono block design requiring the follow parts:

2 x Modulus 686 SMD Pre-Populated PCB

2 x Power 686

2 x Guardian 686

1 x Intelligent Soft Start (ISS)

2 x Toroidy TTSAS0400 – SUPREME AUDIO grade transformer TSAS400VA –Output voltage: 2 X 25 V; Mounting pad: Side-wiring plate

1 x Deluxe 4U Aluminum ( DIYDX-4U300-A ) Modushop

1 x IEC Power Inlet

2 x CMC-858MU Gold plated

2 x NEUTRIK XLR Connector

1 x 12v Trigger socket

1 x Front Panel RGB Pushbutton Switch (Not recommended as it’s LED are 24v)
